Hello! Is there a direct way I can account for the emissions of cement manufacturers by directly changing the chemical composition of cement clinkers? I plan to study the emissions when clinkers are substituted with environment-friendly alternatives. Thanks!

    Hi Julia,

you would have to set up your process emissions in a way that they link the total amount of cement produced to the composition (f.e. clinker content), and you then use the IPCC emission factors to calculate emissions. If you then have a scenario that lowers the clinker content this would lower the clinker emissions.

To set up the equations, you can follow the IPCC Guidelines for National GHG Inventories (Chapter 2 - Mineral Industry Emissions, Volume 3): https://www.ipcc-nggip.iges.or.jp/public/2006gl/vol3.html

    Best,
