    Good day Sir/Mdm,

I have a question regarding energy storage. I have simulated results in which there is an excess of energy as shown in the graph attached (96 time slices/ 4 seasons). However, this excess is being exported instead of being stored and discharged in the gaps in which demand is not met. (Kindly refer to the attached graph for illustration).

I have turned on seasonal storage carryover and sized the storage based on the maximum excess energy but it still does not work. The diagnostic messages mention that the surplus production is being exported and wasted.

May I ask if there are any settings to make the energy storage work? I have set shortfall rule to requirements remain unmet, surplus rule to surplus exported, and usage rule to domestic priority. I have tried other settings but they do not work as well.

I would really appreciate if I could get valuable insights in this problem as I may have missed out certain parameter settings.

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,
    Malcolm

    Hi Malcolm -

Before I can speculate further, could you post an image showing the LEAP result Transformation:Power Generation, showing all branches (processes) inside the module you're using to model electricity production and storage? Pick a year that you expect to see your storage process storing and releasing energy.

It looks like the graph you've included was generated in Excel, which means I can't be entirely sure I know what I'm looking at. Thanks,

    Taylor

    Hi brother!

Maybe this tutorial has an answer to your question:LEAP tutorial (Farsi Subtitles) (youtube.com)

    Good day, Mr. Taylor,

Thank you for helping me with these technical questions. I have attached the specified graph of Transformation: Power Generation with the processes in module.

Just to clarify, the graph in Excel was exported from the Transformation: Power Requirements and Power Generation results. The power generation was plotted as a stacked graph of each source accumulating to meet the demand. The black dash lines are the hourly demand (exported from Power Requirement results). This will give a clearer picture of the supply and demand mismatches.

    Thank you very much,
    Best Regards,
    Malcolm
