Topic: How to Model Efficiency Improvements for Only New Power Plants in LEAP?Subscribe | Previous | Next

Hi, in LEAP, I want to model a scenario where only new power plants have improved efficiency, without changing existing plants' efficiency. How can I set this up so that only the upcoming plants reflect these efficiency gains? Any guidance would be appreciated.

I would suggest making a new process for the new power plants.

Thank you, Charlie. Just to clarify, is it acceptable to use an aggregated ‘new plant’ process for all upcoming plants to simplify the setup? I’m concerned that if I assign all future plants to a single ‘new plant’ category, LEAP might apply efficiency improvements to plants classified as ‘new’ in the next year. Would creating separate processes for each new generation of plants (e.g., ‘New Plant 2025’, ‘New Plant 2030’) be a better approach, or is there a way to manage this within a single aggregated process without impacting previous efficiency settings?
