Hello, Mr. Charlie, or whoever is willing to guide me; I hope you are in good health. i would like to ask about how to model for my scenario. let me explain first. indonesia has a plan to blend Avtiation Turbine with Bio so that it becomes bioavtur. For the blending, it is gradual, such as 2027; 1%; 2023; 2.5%; and 2050; 30%. how do i make the modeling? for the energy intensity, i use BoE/Operational Hours. in which part should i make the modeling? Is it the activity level or final energy intensity? Actually, I have tried it, but I am still not sure about my method. Thanks for your previous help; I understand where I went wrong.
Hi Ahmad,
Thank you for your interesting question. First, let me say that I’m not an expert in LEAP, so please take this only as a personal opinion based on my own learning process and experience with the platform.
From what you described—gradual blending of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) with Bioavtur over time (e.g., 1% in 2027, 2.5% in 2033, and 30% in 2050)—my understanding is that this change reflects a shift in the fuel mix per unit of activity, rather than a change in the amount of activity itself. So in this case, the “Final Energy Intensity” section would be the appropriate place to model this.
You can keep using BoE per operational hour as the basis for energy intensity, and then define the fuel shares under the “Final Energy Intensity” for each fuel type—ATF and Bioavtur. For instance, in 2023 the fuel share might be 100% ATF and 0% Bioavtur, then in 2027 it shifts slightly to 98.5% ATF and 1.5% Bioavtur, and so on until you reach your 2050 target of 70% ATF and 30% Bioavtur.
From the screenshot, it looks like you've already set up the structure under the correct tab. That’s a good start. The key will be adjusting the fuel share values under “Final Energy Intensity” over time while keeping your activity level (e.g., operational hours) either constant or modeled separately, if needed.
Again, I’m still learning too—so feel free to correct me if others provide better guidance. But I hope this helps clarify the approach!
Best regards,
Rinaldi Maulana
