I am currently using LEAP (Version 2024.1.1.15, 64-Bit, Dictionary Version: 519) to model a least-cost long-term generation expansion plan. My objective is to optimize generation expansion planning; however, I am encountering issues specifically when using the NEMO optimization module. The Base scenarios works well as shown here

While the Business-As-Usual (BAU) scenario runs successfully, with power generation following the load demand patterns throughout the planning horizon, the optimized scenario presents the following challenges:

    1. Power generation is not dispatched in accordance with peak demand patterns; only two generation units are dispatched.

    1. All generating units are retired in the first simulation year, leaving only two units, despite no planned retirements.

    2. No new generation units are added, even though expansion is expected.

I have attached figures illustrating these issues for your reference. I would appreciate your guidance on resolving these problems to ensure that the optimized scenario accurately reflects a realistic generation expansion plan.

    Hello Charlie,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to follow up on your support with this issue. Despite trying everything I can, I’m still unable to resolve it.

If possible, I’d appreciate your permission to share the LEAP model with you via email for your review. Your guidance would be invaluable in resolving this matter.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Please do Vedaste. Happy to take a look for you.

Please backup your data set to a .leap file using the Backup button on the main toolbar. Please then send a link to that file using Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar to leap@sei.org. Files are usually too large to send directly. Please only send .leap files - not zip files. Thanks!

    Best wishes,

    Charlie
