Good day, everyone! I’m trying to simulate the combination of two energy sources and an energy storage to supply an island in the Philippines. I plan to do it by setting up technological variables for energy sources and storage and using NEMO to optimize the power generation at a low cost. My goal is to at least set my energy storage to store and generate power for the demand in the island.
I have discovered that setting the maximum capacity for an energy storage to be unlimited will cause an extended processing time, ultimately leading to NEMO showing an error.
I tried to set it to 0 to show and verify if I haven’t had any error in other variables, and it is working, but I didn’t find a contribution of my energy storage, only the energy sources (which is intuitive since I set the maximum capacity at 0).
I tried to use values from 10-1000 MW of maximum capacity and still, NEMO is not working. It only works if the maximum capacity of the battery is 0.
I also tried to set minimum utilization to 50 and yet it will not work unless the maximum capacity is set to unlimited. I tried to compare it to the optimization exercise in LEAP; NEMO was able to show the energy storage capacity in power generation results, and its maximum capacity is set to unlimited.
Hoping someone can help me in this matter. Thank you!
Hi Ardie - not sure what version you are using but we did make some improvements to LEAP recently to improve how it writes NEMO data files. Can you get the latest version (currently 2024.2.0.5) and let us know if you see any improvements?
