Following up on last week's launch webinars, I am thrilled to announce that a new version of LEAP is now available for download.
This is a major update of LEAP designed to make policy-relevant analysis easier to undertake, more accessible, more rigorous, more credible, more inclusive, and better able to address important emerging concerns.
New features in this version include:
- Energy System Optimization Modeling: least-cost optimization of both demand and supply sectors, including new optimized modeling of transmission and pipeline networks.
- A Modernized User Interface: making LEAP more professional looking, more configurable, and easier & more enjoyable to use, while still being immediately recognizable to existing users.
- LEAP Plugins: mini-models that make model development easier, more modular, more standardized, and more community driven
- Energy Affordability: A new type of analysis that examines how alternative pathways may affect the most vulnerable and marginalized members of society.
- Translations of LEAP into 14 Languages to make it more accessible, along with a new feature that automatically translates all the names in your LEAP model into different languages.
- A New Help System: revised, expanded and easier to use containing more than 650 pages of help.
- New Training Materials: updated to reflect the latest changes.
- Many other new features that make modeling, data management, and results visualization easier and more convenient along with many fixes and quality improvements.
You can
download LEAP here or use Help: Check for Updates within LEAP. The new version is backwards compatible
with previous versions. It will seamlessly upgrade any data sets developed in earlier versions of LEAP. There are no additional charges to update to the new version. It is available for free to anyone with a current license.
The videos from last week's launch webinars are also now
available here. There is one longer video replay of the whole webinar, as well as short highlight videos introducing each of the new features. The slides from last week's webinar are
